Event: Wings of the North 2013 AirExpo Heroes and Legends

Location: Flying Cloud Airport Eden Prairie, MN

Eden Prairie residents and visitors experienced living aviation history by experiencing the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit and meeting Original Tuskegee Airman Lt. Col. Hiram Mann. Visitors were also able to meet NASA astronaut Curt Brown and many other “living legends”during the 14th annual Minnesota AirExpo this weekend.

This event had more than 50 aircraft on display, ranging from World War II era to small modern civilian planes. This year’s main attraction was the Commemorative Air Force’s Red Tail Squadron with the P-51C Mustang on display. Free symposiums on topics including the Korean War and World War II were offered. Other activities during the AirExpo included historical reenactments, military vehicles and a children’s activity area.

The CAF Red Tail Squadron was sponsored by the General EW Rawlings Chapter, Air Force Association.

Attendance: Estimated 6,500 spectators

Educational Outreach – The CAF Red Tail Squadron’s RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit was set up at the kid&planeairport grounds for visits on Friday. Over 80 children enjoyed their RISE ABOVE Experience as they received their Inspirational Dog Tags. Groups include several Cub Scout groups and students from YIAA. The total number of children for the weekend was 479.
