By golly y’all better hold on to your hats! The CAF Red Tail Squadron is headed to Texas!

The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit and the P-51C Mustang Tuskegee Airmen are rolling through the state for a whirlwind month-long tour that will include events in Dallas, Midland, Hearne and Houston. There will be ample opportunities to reconnect with fellow Red Tail enthusiasts and make NEW friends as we saunter our way across the Lone Star state!

1891142_10152196961972510_493433541_nThe Red Tail Squadron is based out of Minnesota, but is actually a part of the Texas-based Commemorative Air Force (CAF). So we’re hitting the trail and headed south to share our exciting and inspirational message with our Texas family. Get out your calendars and read below when and where you can come see us!

From October 3 – 5 you will find us at the CAF AirPower History Tour at the Dallas Executive Airport. The event is part of a CAF national tour of historic WWII aircraft where visitors will be allowed to get up close and touch the airplanes, tour the cockpit, talk to the crews, watch them fly and most of all inspire kids and adults alike with these beautiful pieces of living history. Come out to see the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit!

From October 10– 12 we will be making an appearance at the CAF’s AIRSHO in Midland, headquarters of the CAF. We are hard at work making arrangement with the local community to bring area students to see the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit! Come get a grand, up-close look at our P-51C Mustang on static display and snap a picture or two next to that famed red tail!

Then from October 15 – 18 we will be participating a living history event at Camp Hearne in Hearne, Texas. Camp Hearne served as a prisoner of war camp in WWII, which at one point housed 4,800 German, Italian and Japanese POWs. Admission is free!

Remember our participation in last December’s Snowball Express in Dallas? That amazing event, put on for children of fallen military members, is one of the many worthy causes supported by the Fort Worth Airpower Foundation, a non-profit foundation that raises money in support of our military and their families. Sky Ball is the foundation’s premier fundraiser, and their 12th annual event will take place October 25 at the American Airlines Hangar at the DFW International Airport…and WE will be there to support this wonderfully worthwhile program! The event will honor all of our nation’s military service members, veterans and their families. Several of America’s living recipients of the Medal of Honor along with many distinguished guests and dignitaries will be in attendance.

Sky Ball is held in conjunction with the DFW Aviation & Transportation Career Expo on October 24, the leading aviation education event for schools in the North Texas Area where over 5,000 students will participate. Thanks to our donors we are able to participate in this event, which will make a real difference in the lives of thousands of children!

LOGO-2Finally, we head south to the CAF Wings Over Houston Air Show November 1 – 2 at Ellington Airport. At the request of the Texas Flying Legends Museum, we have been honored to attend every year. We are excited to be able to bring our RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit to the Museum for special showings of our original movie “Rise Above” beginning Tuesday October 28 through the end of the Air Show for area school children. The event will include original Tuskegee Airmen that will speak during the weekend at the Museum and we will also be offering rides in our P-51C Mustang!

If you in or near any of the event locations, we would love to see you! Bring your friends and family and be prepared to be inspired! RISE ABOVE!
