Looking for a fun and meaningful project for your Black History Month lesson planning? Inspire your students with the remarkable story of the Tuskegee Airmen by participating in the CAF Red Tail Squadron Essay Contest!
The Tuskegee Airmen were our country’s first black military pilots and their support personnel. In a time when the odds were stacked against them, the men and women who became known as the Tuskegee Airmen made a mark on history, and helped lead the integration of the U.S. Armed Forces two decades before the passing of the Civil Rights Act. The CAF Red Tail Squadron is hard at work to ensure their history and legacy is never forgotten.
The CAF Red Tail Squadron Essay Contest is a fun way to help students learn about the achievements of the Tuskegee Airmen. They will get the chance to put into action what they have learned about the importance of education, training and especially determination, based on the Tuskegee Airmen’s example of overcoming adversity. The contest will be a lesson both in inspiration and finding the motivation to achieve!

How to participate:
- Order a RISE ABOVE Resource Kit, or contact the CAF Red Tail Squadron at info@redtail.org or (888) 928-0188 to see if your school qualifies for a FREE kit.
- Integrate the history and social significance of the Tuskegee Airmen into your lesson planning, utilizing materials from the RISE ABOVE Resource Kit or from our website at www.redtail.org.
- Have students and their parents read the contest rules and sign the participation form.
- Submit entries by February 28, 2016 to info@redtail.org or mail to:
