The P-51C Mustang Tuskegee Airmen is the jewel in the crown, so to speak, of the CAF Red Tail Squadron. Nothing thrills the heart – or inspires young and old alike – more than the sight and sound of our P-51 in action. This iconic vintage fighter was the starting point for our educational outreach effort. And nothing says Tuskegee Airmen quite like OUR Tuskegee Airmen.
This month’s special fundraiser focused solely on the aircraft is a reminder that we need YOUR support to keep our mission alive. It takes a collective effort to raise the funds to keep up our safe operations, maintenance and parts. Keeping an aircraft from the 1940’s intact and in flying condition is no small task, but worth every penny, and every drop of sweat.
The look on a young person’s face when they see the aircraft for the first time is priceless. To see the veteran bomber pilot tear up as he remembered the P-51 that escorted him back to safety is remarkable. To teach a young person that the “Red Tails” weren’t just action heroes from a Hollywood movie, but REAL American heroes who won a victory abroad and at home is what makes it all worth it. And all of this, and much more, happens because of you, our dedicated supporter.
