Take a quick trip over to the CAF Red Tail Squadron store to check out new books about the Tuskegee Airmen written especially for kids and teens! Both are authored by historians Lynn M. Homan and Thomas Reilly, and illustrated in watercolor by artist Rosalie M. Shepard.

“The Tuskegee Airman Story,” suited for children 4-8, tells the story of children learning from their grandfather’s experience as a Tuskegee Airman, discovering the relics from his past that help tell the story. Share this book with children to introduce them to new concepts about history, World War II and civil rights.

In “Tuskegee Airmen: American Heroes,” older kids and teens can immerse themselves in the story of a substitute teacher with some pretty exciting stories to share. As the students in the story learn about the experience of the Tuskegee Airmen, they learn an extraordinary truth about their teacher for day, and perhaps how to emulate the life lessons of the Tuskegee Airmen.

As always, your purchase will benefit the educational outreach efforts of the CAF Red Tail Squadron, helping to bring the lessons of the Tuskegee Airmen to young people around the country.

Cozy up with one of these good books and share with the young people in your life!

The CAF Red Tail Squadron is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to educating audiences across the country about the history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, America’s first black military pilots and their support personnel. Learn more at www.redtail.org.
