Ferrier was born in 1921 to Henry White and Fosterina Meredith. He attended Elyria High School where he played on the football team. He graduated in 1939. He was employed at Sears Roebuck Company in Elyria prior to enrolling in the Tuskegee Air Program.

He enlisted in Jan of 1942 and received his wings and commission as a second lieutenant on Oct 16, 1944. He was assigned to the 100th Squadron, 322nd Fighter Group based in Italy. On April 5, 1945, Ferrier was on a mission when he went missing over the Adriatic Sea. There is little information pertaining to his loss.

Ferrier is honored on the tablets of the Missing in Action at the Florence American Cemetery in Italy. Ferrier is also honored on the Oberlin Ohio Soldiers Monument.

His remains have never been recovered.
