Leonora May Horton Anderson

After the war, Leonora settled in Washington DC where she was a Physical Education teacher and a flight instructor.  Throughout her lifetime, she held various jobs such as: selling Cessna planes, public relations writer and photographer for Fairchild engine, assistant editor for Shell Oil Company, writer for TWA Airlines, traveling all over the world. In 1977, Leonora retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Col. and was awarded the Meritorious Service Award for her national publicity programs at the Pentagon. In her later years she continued teaching. She joined the Florida Suncoast Chapter in 2001, at the age of 86. She attended several WASP luncheons at Sun’N’Fun. Previously a member of the New York Chapter, she was predeceased by her husband, Alex Anderson, a Navy Ace.
