Ulysses Samuel Taylor joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941 after graduation from Sam Houston College in Austin, Texas. He entered pilot training in 1942 and graduated in 1943.
During World War II, he was with the 332nd Fighter Group and flew 82 combat missions supporting bombing raids over France and Germany. He flew the P-39 and P-51 aircraft.
Taylor also served in the U.S.A.F. during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in 1967 after 27 years of service.
Tylor lived in Tucson 22 years and after his retirement, worked at Philco-Ford and taught at Pima Community College.
