The CAF Red Tail Squadron’s RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit visited Focus Hope in Detroit, Michigan. The sponsors for this event were Focus Hope and the Macon-Thomas West Bloomfield TAI Chapter. Frank Kubik of Focus Hope and Burt Lowe of the Detroit TAI Chapter worked hard to promote this event and in finding the funding to bring the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit back to Detroit.

The crowds enjoyed meeting Original Tuskegee Airman, Alexander Jefferson and Clarence Newby, a Monford Point Marine from WWII. Assistance was provided by members of two TAI Chapters – the Macon-Thomas West Bloomfield Chapter and the Detroit Chapter. As a special treat, Barbara Pitts brought her photo collection.

Two CAF Red Tail Pilots attended the OPEN HOUSE at Liberty Aviation Museum with Dr. Harold Brown. Brad Lang and Paul Stojkov were on site to answer questions about the P-51C Mustang. However, the weather prohibited any flights in the P-51C.

One family was able to enjoy both events, the Jackson Family. Joi Jackson brought her family to Focus Hope to educate her children on the history of the Tuskegee Airmen. They saw the RISE ABOVE movie several times and then drove from Detroit to Port Clinton so Jarreth could see the P-51C Mustang and meet the pilots Brad and Paul.
