Dates: Oct 16-19, 2013
Event: Frontiers of Flight Museum
Location: Dallas Love Field, Texas
The Frontiers of Flight Museum celebrated the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen on October 16 – 20, 2014. Sponsored by a generous grant from UPS, the Museum rolled out the red carpet for the Original Tuskegee Airmen, the TAI Chapter and the CAF Red Tail Squadron.
Our special guests include Original Tuskegee Airmen, Homer Hogues and Calvin Spann, along with Gordan Guillory, Yolandea Wood and Beth Jenkins. There was lots of media attention and interviews. On Friday evening, the Museum also hosted an event, The Wind Beneath The Wings – Women In Aviation Gala.
On Saturday, the RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit was open to the public, and Alan Miller awarded a ride to the winner of the Museum’s drawing. The crowd enjoyed watching the Mustang fly overhead.
Educational Outreach Visits – Students from various schools were invited to the Museum. The staff had carefully created a schedule so that each student would be able to experience the Tuskegee Airmen Exhibit, the P-51C Mustang, the RISE ABOVE Movie and all the interesting exhibits inside the Museum. The staff worked very hard to schedule the students in 3 days. Their hard word was quite successful, as 855 children were inspired as they viewed the RISE ABOVE movie and received their inspirational dog tags.
