Dates: May 30- June 2, 2013

Event: Atlanta Braves Heritage Week

Location: Turner Field, Atlanta, GA.

Attendance: Estimated to be over 120,000 people

kidsThe RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit was part of the Atlanta Braves Heritage Weekend presented by Belk and KIA at Turner Field. The Exhibit was displayed in Turner Field’s Monument Grove May 30th-June 2nd, giving premium exposure to the attendees of the Braves games.

02Three original Tuskegee Airmen Rev. Thomas Bristow, Sr., Harry Brock, and Val Archer were honored during a pre-game ceremony on Friday that was followed by a flyover of the P-51C Mustang. The flyover was performed by Brad Lang on Friday and again on Saturday before the game. The crowds cheered as the Mustang flew overhead with the distinctive roar of the Rolls Royce Merlin!

Our very own Terry Hollis was also featured on the jumbo-tron as he gave a brief overview of our mission to the attendees of the game and extended an invitation to them to come visit the Exhibit.

Zellie Orr and her daughter joined us on Saturday. Zellie has published a wonderful children’s activity book, High Flyin’.

Educational Outreach – Groups from the Joseph B. Whiteheads Boys & Girls Club in Metro Atlanta visited the Exhibit along with children who participated in the baseball clinic hosted by the Atlanta Braves.
