2d Lt Clarence H. Bradford graduated from advanced flight training at Tuskegee Army Air Field on 5 Dec 1943, in class 43K, single engine. He was assigned to the 301st Fighter Squadron as a replacement pilot on 12 May 1944.

The 332d Fighter Group strafed Grosswardein Airdrome in Rumania and claimed to have destroyed 83 enemy aircraft on the ground and to have damaged another 31. (332d Fighter Group mission report number 67 and its supplement). 2d Lt. Charles T. Williams of the 301st Fighter Squadron was reported lost with his P-51 over Yugoslavia during the mission (Missing Air Crew Report 8332). He became a prisoner of war. Capt. Clarence H. Bradford of the 301st Fighter Squadron earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroic actions on this date. (Fifteenth Air Force General Order 1811 dated 27 Mar 1945).
