CAF Red Tail Squadron is dedicated to bringing the history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen to life. The lessons of the Tuskegee Airmen are so much more than a page out of a World War II history book – they are an example of how to overcome any obstacle and triumph over your own adversities.
After the war, the Tuskegee Airmen made great personal achievements, continuing to break down racial barriers. Many of them went on to earn advanced degrees as doctors, entrepreneurs, and educators. Those who persevered in their military careers earned high rank, including two four-star generals.
CAF RISE ABOVE: WASP is dedicated to honoring the trailblazing Women Airforce Service Pilots of WWII for their courage and determination to serve our country, and share their story of inspiration to rise above any obstacle.
This group of heroic Americans exhibited bravery and determination in the face of many who felt that women could not do what was then considered a man’s job. Despite the obstacles and disapproval of others, these women forged ahead and served with distinction as the first women to fly Americas Military Aircraft.
The CAF Red Tail Squadron’s RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit and P-51C Mustang travel 9 months out of the year, crisscrossing the country to deliver the inspirational message of the courage, strength and character of the Tuskegee Airmen, America’s first black military pilots and their support personnel.
Tuskegee Airman pilot Dr. Harold Brown is a decorated fighter pilot from World War II. He was shot down and taken prisoner of war, returning home a second class citizen because of the color of his skin, instead of the war hero he was.
At the heart of CAF RISE ABOVE: WASP is a feature film that will be shown inside portable dome theaters on curved screens, enveloping guests in the sights and sounds of aviation and the experience of the WASP.
