Lt Walker was born January 20, 1919 in Keysville, GA. He was educated in East Suffolk public schools, at Nansemond (county) institute and St Paul college. Entering the army as an aviation cadet April 9, 1942, he took flight training at Tuskegee Army Flying School, Ala. He reported to Selfridge with the 332nd Fighter Group March 29, 1943.

2nd Lt. William “Wild Bill” Walker was killed in a mid-air collision with 2nd Lt. LeRoi S, Williams on 14 October 1943, 1-mile north of Selfridge Field, Michigan.
