This mural is a tribute to Sherman Rose, a famous resident of Dothan and one of the original Tuskegee Airmen. The full title of this mural is “A Tribute to Sherman Rose”.

Sherman Rose was a flight instructor who helped train the first Black military aviators in the history of the United States, the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II.

It was painted by Wes Hardin in 2001. It is just one of the Dothan murals that commemorate an African American. See the famous Dothan murals, which portrays their rich history on the sides of their most historic buildings downtown.

Read about Tuskegee Airmen Val Archer, Earl Martin and Wilbur Mason visiting the mural in 2011
