Marjorie was assigned to Class 45-1, which did not graduate. When Congress voted NOT to militarize the WASP in June 1944, some of the women assigned to Class 45-1 were already enroute to Sweetwater. The ladies were sent home, never given the opportunity to fulfill their dream to serve their country.
This was submitted by her son, Steven:
Marjorie was born in Oxford, CA. She lived in Chino, CA when she left to get her Pilots Certificate in Reno Nevada. She then went to Tonopah Nevada Air Base where I know she was receiving some training. She packed her own parachute and made a static line jump as they were required, out of some kind of military airplane. Whether she went to Sweetwater Texas I do not know. I thought she finished training in Tonopah but again I am not sure. She definitely had her Pilot certificate as she got her medical and resumed flying in the seventies renting aircraft from Capitol Sky Park in Sacramento, CA where I worked as a flight instructor and charter pilot. Her date of birth was 6, November, 1924. She may have lied about her age to meet the requirements, and also worked as a backup blackjack dealer to support her flying while in Nevada.
After the war Marjorie had two children and became a homemaker as so many did till 1958. She then started working at the California Highway Patrol as a junior clerk typist and worked her way up. She became administrative assistant with the rank of Commander for 4 commissioners terms before she retired in the late eighties. She ran many marathons all over the world and at one time was Nationally ranked for her age bracket. She died in 2017 age 92. Nothing surpassed her dream of being a WASP.
